WHAT: Buffalo AmeriCorps will have a Day of Service at the Farmers Market at Grider
WHEN: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., September 21, 2012
WHERE: 351 Grider Street Buffalo, NY across the street from ECMC Gate #4
NOTES: In recognition of Peace Day, Buffalo AmeriCorps members will participate in a service project and be honored for their contributions to improve the quality of the community through service and promoting peace. Entertainment and an aerobics class will also be featured.
During the “Grider Street Clean Up” service project at 8:30 a.m., members will clean/de-weed around trees, replace mulch (where needed) and remove any sidewalk debris along sections of Grider Street.
Two community stakeholders will speak at the event at 11:30 a.m., Victoria Ross from Peace Prints and Michael Rivera from The Belle Center. Rita Hubbard-Robinson from Erie County Medical Center and Pamela James from Buffalo AmeriCorps will announce the Buffalo AmeriCorps awardees.
The Peace Day event also serves to raise greater awareness about the Farmers Market at Grider and its mission to promote better health by providing healthy food options to the community.
This event is open to the community and in collaboration with ECMC, Buffalo AmeriCorps and The Belle Center.
